NEMA Denies Ownership of Looted Warehouse Amidst Hardship

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has dismissed reports claiming that its warehouse in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was looted by residents on Sunday.

According to the reports, FCT residents had looted a warehouse belonging to NEMA, taking away bags of rice, beans, and other food items.

However, a statement released by the NEMA Press Unit and published on X clarified that the looted warehouse does not belong to the agency.

“The National Emergency Management Agency has become aware of media reports alleging that the agency’s warehouse in Abuja was looted by hoodlums on Sunday. We would like to clarify that the looted warehouse is not owned by NEMA. Nonetheless, we extend our sympathies to the owners of the affected facility.

“To prevent any security breaches at NEMA facilities, the Director General, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, has instructed the Zonal Directors and Heads of Operations to enhance security measures in and around the agency’s offices and warehouses nationwide,” stated the press release.
