Kogi-based businessman and owner of popular chain of Chuks Supermarket in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nicholas Ofodile, has been killed by yet to be identified gunmen.

According to reports, Ofodile ran into an armed gang operating along the Gegu/Koton-Karfe axis of the Kogi-Abuja expressway on Wednesday afternoon.

The criminals and men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) were engaging in a fierce gun battle when Ofodile drove into the crossfire. He was killed alongside two other persons.

This incident is coming barely one week after eight police operatives, including the Divisional Police Officer, a lady police officer and two civilians were killed in Isanlu by suspected armed robbers.
