White House Confirms First US Humanitarian Aid Flight En Route to Egypt for Gaza

In a joint effort with the United Nations (UN), the United States is preparing to send the first of three aid flights to provide essential assistance to the conflict-affected region of Gaza.

The White House has officially confirmed that the initial aid flight is en route to North Sinai, Egypt.

During a press briefing, a senior official from the Joe Biden administration shared important details, stating, “Tomorrow, we will have the first of three relief flights that are facilitated by the unique capabilities of the US military that will be arriving in North Sinai in Egypt.”

The aid packages will include vital supplies such as medical resources, food aid, and winter essentials, particularly crucial as the winter season approaches in Gaza.

The United Nations will play a role in ensuring the delivery of aid to the civilians in need within the Gaza enclave.

The official also mentioned that two additional relief flights are expected to arrive in Egypt in the coming days.

The Biden administration continues to collaborate with regional partners to explore possibilities for increasing the flow of aid to Gaza.

Providing context to the ongoing humanitarian efforts, the official highlighted that since October 21, over 2,000 trucks carrying humanitarian aid have crossed the border into Gaza via the Rafah crossing.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which has escalated since October 7, has taken a devastating toll on both sides. The confirmed casualties include nearly 1,200 people in Israel and almost 15,000 in Gaza and the West Bank, with thousands more sustaining injuries in the Palestinian enclaves.
